The methods of assessment include quizzes, examinations, presentations, performance-based testing, and practical exercises with a minimum passing score of 75 percent.

The methods of instruction include audiovisual materials, case studies, classroom exercises, computer-based training, discussion, laboratory, learner presentations, lecture, and practical exercises. The general course topics include professionalism; physical training; legal issues; field training; crime investigation (basic and intermediate) enforcement strategies; defensive tactics; traffic crash investigation; and driver training.
