The EPIC Master Certification, a faculty development program, is designed to increase an experienced faculty member's mastery of online teaching and pedagogy at Wake Tech Community College. With supervisor recommendation and approval, EPIC Master candidates work directly with instructional designers to update existing online course content to achieve exemplary status.

ACC 110 Accessible Word Documents--This online workshop provides an overview of creating accessible documents through hands-on application of accessibility principles. Participants will learn how to: create accessible text and structure, incorporate accessible images; tables; and hyperlinks, and run a final accessibility check. The accessible document will then be saved as an accessible PDF file.

ACC 120 Accessible PowerPoint--In this online workshop, participants will learn how to create a new accessible PowerPoint presentation and update the accessibility of an existing presentation. Topics include elements of an accessible PowerPoint, common accessibility problems, accessible structure, and design features, accessible images and non-text elements, accessible multimedia, and saving/sharing presentations.

ACC 131 Accessible Video Captioning--This hands-on course will introduce participants to captioning YouTube videos; both their own and those created by others. The purpose of this course is to introduce the concept of captioning, apply it using two online tools, and utilize transcripts. This knowledge will be assessed throughout the course via discussion boards, quizzes, and a final project. *Offered in Seated or Online formats

EPIC 110--A certified EPIC Online Teaching faculty member, with a supervisor recommendation, is assigned an Instructional Designer who will act as a consultant and mentor over a semester in updating an existing online course to achieve exemplary status. EPIC 110 is part of the EPIC Master Online Teaching Certification.

An experienced online faculty member who has: 4 years of online teaching experience including at least 4 semesters in the last 5 years, has earned EPIC Online Teaching Certification, obtained supervisor approval recommendation from their Dean, no current disciplinary procedures, must use a personally developed course (courses developed by a colleague are not eligible to be used for the Master Certification Process)
