The Advanced Technical Leadership Certification is an 10-course plus capstone panel program that builds upon the earned Technical Leadership Certificate. This program adds in more training topics and methods to round out your leadership tool box. Additionally, you will earn the Certification by proving your ability to apply the key principles, incorporate the interaction essentials, and give effective feedback via a capstone program and activities with instructors and staff from the TLCenter.

Earning Criteria

MGT620: Writing, Speaking and Presenting with Confidence You demonstrate your personal leadership brand every day, through what you write and how you speak. You want to be sure your readers and listeners form an impression of you that is confident, focused, and engaging. Effective writing and compelling speaking are skills you cultivate, and that require practice.
MGT632: Fostering Innovation Leaders are the significant influencers of innovation for every organization. Frontline leaders manage individual contributors and are the conduit for up-to-date knowledge, business challenges, and information about your customers.
MGT635: Conversations to Inspire Performance Performance management often can be approached as a top-down, evaluative process involving a stack of paperwork that’s forced upon leaders and their direct reports—with little payoff for either person.
MGT642: Addressing Poor Performance A single employee with chronic performance problems can dominate a leader's time and drag down the productivity and morale of an entire workgroup. Learn how to document and present a solid case for needed improvement and use effective interaction skills to provide ongoing feedback and support.
MGT644: Strengthening Your Partnerships Partnerships, whether internal or external, are more important than ever in reaching organizational goals. Strong partnerships can mean achieving objectives, yet changing boundaries and responsibilities make it difficult to build and sustain partnerships.
MGT652: Executing Strategy at the Front Line To achieve their business strategies, organizations count on leaders at the frontline to understand and execute the top priorities for their team. Participants learn how to focus on the few most critical priorities, to measure progress toward the accomplishment of these priorities, and to hold themselves and their team members accountable for the metrics.

Advances in technology are disrupting the market, globalization is forcing a new approach of working, and the teams of the future have never seen this level of diversity. In essence, organizations need to equip their employees to create cohesive teams quickly to enable results.
MGT662: Valuing Differences Today, the organizations with the most significant competitive advantage are those that create an inclusive environment that makes the most of their people’s diverse experiences, ideas, and talents.
MGT663: Navigating Beyond Conflict The differences people bring to the workplace can promote tremendous creativity and innovation. Those same differences also can contribute to misunderstandings, which can lead to discord and, if left unresolved, dispute. Individual performers need to know how to navigate beyond conflict to prevent damage from occurring efficiently.
Capstone Certification program: 2- to 3-hour scheduled session with instructor panel to show application of learned concepts. Session is scheduled approximately 1 month after completion of all required courses. Panelists include 1 to 2 program instructors and the Director of the Technology & Leadership Center.
