The course teaches students how to complete a procedural task analysis, develop flow charts and trauma response strategies for individuals with disabilities. Discussion on the common characteristics of types of autism and strategies to assist individuals in the recruitment, training and management of support staff.

Success in this 1 credit hour course is based on the expectation that students will spend, for each unit of credit, a minimum of 15 hours over the length of the course (normally 1 hour per unit per week with 1 of the hours used for lecture) for instruction and preparation/studying or course related activities for a total of 45 hours.
Standards
This course is part three of a four-course sequence for the Certificate of Advanced Proficienty certificate in DSPaths credentialing training through the Ohio Alliance of Direct Support Providers (OADSP) curriculum. DSPaths credentialing requires 30 hours of classroom instruction for the basic certificate in their credentialing program.
