User Experience - Critical Thinking
Originally developed by the Education Design Lab, the 21st Century Skill of Critical Thinking includes the capacity to reason logically and rigorously. Effective critical thinkers exhibit four core sub-competencies: gather and assess relevant information; identify patterns; question assumptions; and draw well-reasoned conclusions.

Earning Criteria

Attend and participate in the "Heuristics and UX Laws" course, which discusses the impact of the UI on the overall User Experience. Presenting the Laws of UX applied to Visual Design, and the different layouts existing in the web industry. Students receive an introduction to Heuristics.

Attend and participate in the "Usability Testing" workshop, which discusses research methodologies to test low-to-high fidelity prototypes with representative users. Students conduct 3 rounds of Usability Testing and demonstrate their ability to improve the experience based on feedback.

Demonstrate ability to improve the problem-solving process by resisting easy answers and probing more deeply into the data in order to reduce implicit bias.

Showcase ability to using logic and reason to evaluate arguments, form judgments, and make recommendations on a project.
