Open Badges 2.0 Certified!

Credly is proud to announce that we are now OB 2.0 certified as an Issuer and Displayer!

The Open Badges standard is used by thousands of platforms and issuers around the world, all of whom have unique use cases and implementations. Because Open Badges is a Linked Data vocabulary expressed in JSON-LD, there are some excellent features available to those issuers and platforms to use Open Badges in their preferred language. This standard also represents an opportunity for the entire digital credential community to speak the same technical language to ensure that badge data can be effectively communicated across a variety of channels.

We have updated our method for packaging information about digital credentials, embedding it into portable image files and establishing resources for its validation. It includes term definitions and representation of data that comply with IMS Global Open Badges V2.0 Specifications.

What is new on

  1. When viewing an earned badge, users can click on the 'Verify' button on that page to validate that a badge is, in fact, Open Badge v2.0 compliant. If a badge is revoked or expired, the system will show an error.

  1. Earners can download their badge with Open Badges v1.1 or v2.0 version and begin sharing!
